00:15 Do you know God has a purpose? Do you get anxious wondering what is your purpose? Some believers struggle and strive to find their purpose because they sincerely want to serve Him. Sadly that striving is a work and there’s no peace in it.
God’s purpose is very intentional. His purpose is wondrously and happily all about you!
00:41 Intentional is a big word when it comes to God. What do you think of when you hear the word ‘intentional’. What about ‘BE intentional’? Does that make you think you have to do something?
00:56 A 2007 dream about intentional seemed tied to doing. Boy, was I wrong! Here’s the dream.
I was in an art classroom that seemed like the school where I had taught after graduating from college. The kids were having a great time creating and I was thoroughly enjoying the kids doing artwork. Then thought, ‘I wonder if they might have an art opening to teach?! I’d love to teach again!’
Headed for the Principal’s office to inquire. As I walked by the office windows there was an easel just outside. On the easel was a sign stating the principal’s name and underneath the meaning of his name - “Be intentional”. I thought that’s strange.
Went up to the office counter and the secretary came up to me. I asked, ‘Is the Principal available?” She said curtly, “No. The Principal is busy and can’t see you.” But in a flash the Principal was by the counter, face to face with me, engaging with sincerity and care. He said kindly, “How can I help you?”. Then I woke up.
02:12 In 2007 my interpretation was God wanted me more focused and intentional in the ministries I was doing. Sixteen years later I realize this dream shows who God really is. God is intentional in all He did and accomplished. Intention is woven into His thoughts and subsequent actions.
The office secretary represents many who believe God is busy and doesn’t have time for common folk or at least we have to do things to get His attention. The principal representing God in the dream shows the Lord never too busy nor distant from us. God is super close! He hears our heart, our desire, our thoughts. His immediate intentional presence in the dream demonstrated His great interest and care. Don’t forget God is impartial, He has no favorites.
03:13 By the way, there is absolutely no way to manipulate God with good behavior or what we think He’d like or would impress Him. For example – pray a lot, fast, worship, study, memorize scriptures, speak in tongues til you’re blue in the face, lots of good deeds. None of that can sway God to get what you want. He’s already crazy about you.
03:36 Speaking of face to face reminds me of a word dream years ago. While asleep I heard - “When you speak He gets right before you.” While still asleep I sensed Him getting right in front of the face of who was speaking – eyes to eyes. His eyes in sincere rapt attention. Just think about the closeness!
04:04 Consider these passages that show His intentional closeness and involvement in our lives.
· “It shall come to pass that before they call, I shall answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.
· As it is written: “To whom He was not announced, they shall see; And those who have not heard shall understand.”
· He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being.
· You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down; You are aware of all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, O LORD. You hem me in behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me!
Father Son Holy Spirit long for us to know and encounter His kind intentionality. Perhaps some of you have experienced this. Expect more!
