Hi there! Welcome to Crazy Good God podcast. I’m Nancy Teague and thanks for listening!

00:16   Have you ever seen the TV commercial for a personal EKG tester? A man is asking by passers - “How’s your heart?” One lady responds, “It’s fine.” Then the demonstrator asks, “Are you sure?” The lady responds, “Well, I think so?”

Today let’s ask the question – “How’s your thoughts?” or could ask “How’s your heart?”  “As a man thinketh within himself, so is he.”  Do you ever stop to really think about your thoughts?

00:50   What are God’s thoughts? Here’s some.

‘Your eyes saw me while still unformed…and also, how precious are Your thoughts to me…how great is the sum of them!’

‘…Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.’

The Lord says, ‘My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts…My word that goes forth from My mouth shall not return to Me void. My thoughts and words shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

’’The word of God is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.’

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

01:52   Here’s a summary of God’s thoughts. God can’t stop thinking about you! His thoughts about you are elevated because they come out of His goodness and kindness. His thoughts are peace, future, and a hope for you.  God’s thoughts are close, they’re like words in your heart and mouth. He wants you to speak out loud His thoughts. In fact, speak out loud those passages just mentioned - they will wash over you. God’s thoughts are always FOR you, NEVER AGAINST you. God’s thoughts come from knowing your true identity. Know your true identity and watch your thoughts change!

02:36   Okay. How are your thoughts? Know that negative or positive thoughts become beliefs. Jesus said, “As you have believed, be it to you.” If you believe God has negative thoughts about you, then so is your belief. Religious tradition certainly reinforces negative thoughts about ourselves because they preach a distant angry God, and you always have to do something to make Him happy.

03:05   If negative thoughts about yourself engage you, then that’s a sign to pay attention to your thoughts, because you have the power to change them! Bring those hurtful thoughts about yourself to the light of Jesus. Paul wrote, ‘When things are brought to the light they become light.’ Negativity cannot stand before our positive benevolent Father Son Holy Spirit.  Thought lies and belief lies lost all power at the cross.

03:42   Paul reveals the seriousness of thoughts. ‘We take down/pull down every thought/reasoning/thinking and every barrier/presumption/height lifted up against the knowledge of God to take captive one’s mind to the obedience/to submit to what is heard of Christ the anointed One.’ This pulling down is tied in with a false identity which is raised up against who God says you are. God wants our thoughts in wonderful captivity to who Jesus says you are.

04:19   Then Paul tells us how to renew our minds which actually tie in to our true identity! ‘…whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.’  Whoa, talk about good thoughts about beautiful you in Christ Jesus!

04:48   Two practical ways to stop bad upsetting thoughts in their tracks.

Someone on Facebook recently shared his mom’s wisdom of what to do when things are disturbing you. She said, “Change channels!” I was sharing this mom’s counsel with a friend last week. She smiled when she heard it. She then reiterated what had happened recently when driving home. A man was tailgating her. She got perturbed. After a couple of minutes it went beyond perturbed. Talking out loud in her car to the man behind her went something like this - “Do you not see there is a car right in front of me? Do you not care? Are you trying to cause an accident? You are ticking me off!...” All of a sudden she heard the Holy Spirit whisper in her ear – “Think about something else.” She was like, “Oh.” Then proceeded to think about other things, and purposed to no longer look in the rear view mirror or side mirrors. She got home safely and in a good mood.

05:55   May you see and sense God’s incredibly good thoughts for you and about you! May you know you are not owned by negative thoughts. May you continually renew your mind to thoughts that truly declare your true identity and others in Christ Jesus.

Until next Wednesday, Bliss to you and never forget God is absolutely crazy about you!
