Hi there, I'm Nancy Teague and welcome to Crazy Good God podcast. Hey, and thanks for listening.

00:18   Today, more about Isaiah 52 and removing obstacles. Listen to the previous episode #52 to get the scoop.

First though, how to discover riches in the written word of God? What are the riches? In truth, the riches are a Who – Jesus, and we are an integral part of The Who. Do you love reading the word? Are you familiar with Jesus's words to the Pharisees?

00:49   “You diligently search the scriptures for in them you think/your opinion/your dogma is you have/possess eternal life; and these are they that testify/bear witness of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have eternal life.”

01:10   Well, how about when Jesus drew near to two men on the Emmaus Road? Cleopas and his companion’s eyes were supernaturally restrained from recognizing Jesus who was resurrected. So, they walked and talked, and their hearts were heavy with disappointment because they thought this mighty Prophet who was going to redeem Israel, was crucified. Then they learned some women couldn't find his body, and angels told the women that Jesus was alive. Well eventually the hidden Jesus challenged their slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets had said.

01:52   So beginning at Moses and all the prophets, Jesus expounded to them in all the scriptures, the things concerning Himself. Get that, Jesus is all over the Old Testament! Later they compelled Him to stay the night. As Jesus took the bread, blessed and broke it, then gave it to them - their eyes were opened and they knew Him! Immediately He vanished from their sight. Their response – “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us and while He opened the Scriptures to us.”

May we keep the written word in right perspective - because it points to the Living Word, a Person who looks like us and is all about our restoration, reconciliation,  and He made us righteous.

02:52   Given Isaiah was one of those prophets Jesus expounded on to show these two men the things concerning Him, it adds intrigue of God speaking Isaiah 52 to me in the worded dream. Little did I know Isaiah 52 is jam packed with things concerning Jesus. May your hearts burn within you as it has mine to discover Isaiah 52 is all about Jesus and you. It has the most incredible good news about our true identity, the obstacles that hinder us from knowing it, and the joyful finished work.

03:36   Let's get started. Isaiah 52 verse one. “Awake awake…put on your strength…put on your beautiful garments. “Awake in Hebrew means to rouse one's self. It's the idea of opening one's eyes literally, figuratively. Now notice it's repeated 2 times. This is important. It's like God saying – ‘I want you to get this. I do want you to wake up.’

04:06   Then, “Put on strength.” Put on in Hebrew means to be clothed to wear, and strength means might or power. Then the Lord says, “Put on/be clothed/wear beautiful/glorious garments.”

04:35   That reminds me of the father putting on the best robe for his returned prodigal son. He didn't even listen to his – ‘I'm so sorry, please forgive me.’ It was nothing but the highest honor the father wanted to do for his son and that's the way God feels about us.

04:43   Then God exposed the first obstacle in verse two. He says, “Shake yourself from the dust.” Hebrew means shake off, shake out. What is the dust? I believe they’re lies. We've been lying in the dust of lies about who we really are. We believe lies. God says ‘Awake, awake’ - rouse yourself, see what is on you and in your mind. Lies spoken over you. Lies you believe. False teachings. The good news is these lies are removable. So get to shaking!

05:22   Then after shaking off, God says, “Arise.” Hebrew means stand up, stand. Guilt and shame can weigh you down. This is not who you are. God says ‘Arise, stand up, stand tall.’

05:39   Next comes “Sit down.” Here's what's fascinating - it doesn't mean like sit down to a place of honor and authority. In the Hebrew it means remain, dwell, inhabit. Isn't that something?! It's like ‘Be at rest, I've done everything for you. I've restored your true identity. I really do enjoy you and I want you to enjoy who you are in Me.’

There's so much more to discover in Isaiah 52. We've just started, so hold on to your hats. It gets richer!

06:15   For now - Awake and rise up. Rouse yourself. He wants you to see the lies you have lied in. Shake them off. Then sit down and remain and rest while clothed with His garments of strength and glorious beauty, made just for you.

Until next Wednesday, Bliss to you and never forget God is absolutely crazy about you!
