Hi there, welcome to crazy Good God podcast. I'm Nancy Teague and thanks for joining me.

00:18   What is the Incarnation to you? Since the focus of traditional Christianity is on sinners and the way to get saved, it's very natural to move on quickly from Jesus became a baby in the Incarnation and we celebrate, to the salvation message. What if our understanding of the Incarnation is small, very small?

00:44   Here's a great statement – “We can never over exaggerate God, but we sure do underestimate Him.” Hmm, do we underestimate the Incarnation?

Over several years, I've slowly grasped the magnitude and ramifications of the Incarnation, and I bet you there's even more. Now sensing to share with you my “Wows!” about Jesus's incarnation, the Lord reminded me of two dreams.

01:12   First dream in the mid 2000 - I was fast asleep and heard Holy Spirit explain – “When you say something He gets right before you.” That woke me up and I could picture God getting right in front of my face to listen to me. It's like God was ‘in my face’, in full rapt attention. Face to face. Eyes to eyes. Really focused on what we say or think. So, when you think He doesn't hear you, may this dream come to mind – “He gets right before.”

01:48   Second dream a few years later - I saw a cloud in the sky, then all of a sudden it turned into the shape of a huge ear! In a rather comical way I felt He was saying, “I'm all ears.” Truly, God is the best listener of all!

Now I see those dreams had a Incarnation connection. So why did the Creator become what He created?

02:20   First, the basic definition of incarnation. Doctrinally, Incarnation is deity taking on human form. Specifically, it refers to Jesus becoming fully Man.

So, here's some wows.

02:36   Jesus Incarnate fully Man showed God is not distant because Jesus was also fully God. Now that just blew up the distant God mindset!

The incarnation meant emptying to imperceptibly small. Jesus, the One who made all things, got so small to fit in a woman's egg. A woman's egg is the width of a strand of hair – imperceptible unless you have great eyesight. Try to grasp your Creator becoming that tiny. I sensed something so holy, so profound when learning how small Jesus became.

03:29   Jesus Incarnate made the invisible unseen God visible!

Jesus became flesh.  Became in the Greek, his ginomai - to transition from one state to another, to one location to another. It also means to be complete, to be finished. Jesus became complete looking just like us.

03:54   The Incarnate Complete Jesus looks just like the Father! Jesus said, “If you have seen Me, you seen the Father.” Think of the ramifications of that!

Jesus Incarnate shows the pleasure and delight He has with us. Religion focuses on sin. God's attention is on His likeness and He likes His likeness - so much so, He became like us.

04:23   Jesus was called Emmanuel - translation means ‘God with us’. This now visible God hanging out, relating, enjoying, interacting with mankind. The incarnation shows relationship of God with man, not distant.

Jesus became flesh and dwelt IN us. Most translations say ‘among’. The Greek is IN. My goodness IN - well, that's just too intimate. After all, we are wretched sinners. But IN shows Jesus is not put off by our flesh. In fact, the light shines in the darkness of our flesh.

05:08   Incarnate Jesus fully Man vicariously represented all mankind and it reveals God's universal acceptance and embrace of mankind. Remember God is not partial.

Incarnate fully Man fully God Jesus shows the UNION of Divinity with humanity. That is profound.

05:32   The Incarnate Jesus ascended still Son of Man shows the ongoing oneness of God with man.

So much to ponder, and here's to being free from underestimating this wondrous Incarnate Jesus.

Until next Wednesday. Bliss to you and never forget God is absolutely crazy about you.
